INFO:
PAPERLESS is a three-day forum and week-long exhibition that urgently convenes on the spatial, social, and political dimensions of the US immigration/detention industrial complex. This system sows community fear and silencing, works through violence and separation, and constructs the figure of the un/documented subject or ‘illegal alien’ through paperwork, material and spatial conditions, and digital and physical bureaucracy. The obverse of immigration is customs enforcement.

We assemble as architects, researchers, and artists to discuss the expanding carceral geography of immigration, detention, and the everyday policing of immigrants. At a time when speaking out is dangerous, we provide an intimate space to discuss these topics. Names of guests, contributors, and participants redacted for safety.
